An exploration of light in our lives through the ages ….

This painting course uses colour as our guide to the ‘entwined lights’ of Nature and Mind. It takes us through our changing relationship to the Sun, from mythological times to today, from the Sun-worshipping Ancient Egyptians as heralds of the Inner Sun, which gradually entered our lives since the Turning Point of Time.

Drawing on the research of Rudolf Steiner, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Arthur Zajonc, and Liane Collot d’Herbois, we work with flowing colour and mythic imagination to follow the our journey to find inner light in dark times.

What will we do?

• Seven two-hour sessions of review, painting and discussion.
• Wet-on-wet or wet-on-dry, the choice is yours. Some participants like to use soft chalk pastels, which is also an option but please note: I will not be giving instructions on this technique.
• Guided by Steiner’s epoch motifs, but not fixed to them. Rather, we use his sketches as seeds to stimulate our imagination, and develop his indications out of our own creative impulse, as he intended we should.
• Some therapeutic indications given on how to balance our breathing and for anxiety, depression and fear of the future.

• For anyone interested in the spiritual history of humanity, as a journey of light and darkness.
• For artists, teachers, and deep thinkers interested in the anthroposophic approach to consciousness, evolution and transformation through art.

Why join the live class over renting the videos?

It may seem more convenient to do a course by video only over live attendance, but it is actually more challenging for many people! You are not carried by the group, you cannot ask questions, and you do not get individual feedback on your work or get to share in the experience.

But more importantly, when you paint with others, at the same time as them, even though it is in a virtual environment, you are creating etheric substance for the community. Think of it as a group of people coming together with the specific intention to bring something into the world that benefits both ourselves yet also puts positive, creative forces into the world.

And we create within a divine-spiritual community. Divine beings look over our shoulders; we create in their company and in the company of like-minded others.The gift is in the giving, in the doing, as much as in the product.

So I encourage you, if your time zone permits, to gift us with your presence!

$305 for PD certificate or new participants
Video recordings included in the fee, available for private study for a limited period.
